Couth Truth
20 August 2016

The truth walks plainly
In the broad daylight
And strolls around mundanely
Thru the dark of night.
The unadorned truth can be seen
By those who look without guile.
To the liar she’s most obscene.
She gives the braggart no smile.
Truth’s friendly to the plain-spoken
And frequently speaks unobtrusively.
Simple, humble folk find her token
Easily gotten when they act inclusively.
Truth’ll endure some limited abuse,
But push her boundaries too far
And you’ll regret that you unloose
Anger and scorn from her repertoire.
Yes, exceed truth’s reasonable bounds
And you’ll experience her full fury,
So you’ll keenly wish karmic rebounds
Hadn’t been invented to your misery.

Proffering Offering

Proffering Offering
11 October 2015

In your moments of darkness,
Borrow light from my inventory.

In your moments of weakness,
Mooch strength from my story.

In your moments of stress,
Bum passion from my poetry.

When you’re scared and afraid,
Put an artificial smile on your face.

When you feel short-changed and betrayed,
Reach for a long-distance embrace.

When you’re drowning in doubt,
Take hope from my cupboards.

When you’re feeling lonely and left out,
Drink deeply from my well of words.

Forbear My Stare

Forbear My Stare
19 March 2015

Forgive my stare, as I look a you really hard.
I don’t mean to be rude or catch you off guard.
I just want to remember the curve of your smile
Well enough it stays in my deepest memory file.

Mademoiselle Lorielle

Mademoiselle Lorielle
27 February 2012

There's a smile on my face
And joy fills my heart
Because an event took place,
A new life got it's start.
Lorielle was born this afternoon,
A healthy baby girl at full-term.
For her mother it wasn't too soon.
Of that she was loud and firm.
She was tired of being with child.
Not that the baby was unplanned,
It's just the discomforts piled
Up and inconveniences got out of hand.
Now she can relax and ensure
Her new baby's care and keeping
While dreaming about its future
And drift off to sleeping.

Right Way Overnight Stay

Right Way Overnight Stay
6 February 2012

There's a smile on my face
And joy deep in my heart.
All day thru at my place
My thoughts get a kick start
Recalling to my mind
The recent visit with you.
Lounging around, inclined
To taking our sweet time to
Talk of this or that event,
Letting me acertain
That our time in retirement
Is pure gravy train.
I say thanks again for
The omission of formality
And the pleasant ardor
Of gracious hospitality.
