Proud Out Loud

Proud Out Loud
21 July 2016

A feeling urges self-promo,
I want to say it out loud
And let the world know,
“I’m feeling very proud.”
Proud of my mastery, skills
And ample poetry production.
Minor improvements add thrills
As I do word construction.
I’ll walk with my chest out,
Ambling along with poise.
Standing tall as I go about,
I’ll think about my attaboys.

Vegas Ruckus

Vegas Ruckus
29 March 2016

The bewildered look on my face
Says I’m not in Kansas anymore.
I’m feeling so out of place,
Where there’s sinning galore.
They told me Vegas would be fun,
But here I’m feeling overcome.
Out on the street there’s too much sun.
Where did all these people come from?
It’s effin’ easy to be overrun.
Everything here’s so much bigger.
It’s really way over the top.
It’s all too much for my vigor.
Let me go home or make it all stop.

My love is like a blossom
Or a beautiful bloom.
The feeling is awesome,
Like a heady perfume.

Sadly, flowers don’t last long
And the petals quickly drop.
I hope my ardor proves to be strong,
Strong enough to come out on top.

I don’t usually give cut flowers.
Their beauty fades, goes pretty fast.
Blooms may express love’s powers,
But I want my love to go on and last.

Let my love be something that endures.
Perhaps, of a substance yet unknown
To represent my love as it matures.
Maybe I want beauty carved in stone.

Stone won’t change in my lifetime.
A statuette would only gather dust.
Should I celebrate with a rhyme?
Sure, poetry will keep my love robust.

Sunshine Song II

Sunshine Song II
16 August 2013

First thing in the morning
When there’s nothing wrong,
I’m outside running
Singing my sunshine song
Later in the day,
When I’m feeling strong
And things are going my way,
I’ll hum my sunshine song.
Thru out the rest of the day
As I work and go along
I’ll be making my way
Singing my sunshine song.
