Xenophobia Phobia

Xenophobia Phobia

2 October 2017

As I juggle my internal struggle,
Emotion says they’re strange.
Logic says it’s time to change.
It’s hard to predict my inner conflict.
One part gives an unalike sermon,
Another whispers we’re all human.
One idea that I wrestle
Is they’re not people to nestle,
Versus we’re all in the same vessel.
Eternally I grapple internally
With an urge of what I ought
Against all rational thought.
I have notions of conflicting emotions,
Of wishing others ill and harm
Or keeping them safe and warm.
By day and night, myself I fight;
Against impulse to ignore and deny
Hoping my better self comes by.
As I blunder, sometimes I wonder
If it’s innate, this instinct to hate
Or if I can overcome that trait.

My logical side says,
“Something needs to be done.”
My emotional side says,
“Let’s have some fun.”
The internal struggle
Of trying to juggle
And give a little to both,
Makes me swear an oath.
In the end I choose
What I can best use
To strike pay-dirt
From of my effort.

Grope With Hope

Grope With Hope

Hello newborn, hello.
Just to let you know
Mommy loves you so.
Aye, you're such a wee one,
Learning about life's dealings.
Right now along with everyone,
We're experiencing strong feelings.
There's Mommy's concern and care,
Alternating between swearing and prayer.
Family members worry about your welfare
And all want health, fair and square.

Once on a spiritual weekend retreat
I had a rebirthing experience to embrace.
At first, I didn't recognize the feat.
It felt like I was in a very confined space
With strong, firm forces moving me about.
Then there was light, light everywhere.
No matter how I turned my head to checkout,
The brightness was around, always there.
My tiny torso filled with emotion, full bore.
That feeling was hope by the score.
Hope that I would be loved and cared for.

I like to think that every baby has hope.
Like me, hope's in every newborn's envelope.
In welcoming you infant, within our scope
There're desires in our hearts, too.
We hope you have healthy, happy years.
We want to do very well by you.
As you grow, we expect to guide your fears.
Because of how we think, our hopes will manifest
Differently for everybody. There'll be frustrations,
But we all desire an outcome that's the best
And promise to be mindful in our ministrations.

Opportunity For Unity

Opportunity For Unity

What's with this relationship?
Is it about companionship
More than just friendship
Like maybe a partnership?

Are we friends with benefits,
Looking at you elicits
Nothing that inhibits
Having sex as time permits?

My gut reaction's commotion
That gives me a notion
Of a change in emotion
And a loss of devotion.

Not to be synthetic,
I want to be copasetic
For you to be sympathetic
And us to be synergetic.

Come talk to me
And let's see
If we can be
In harmony.
