Workshop Stop

Workshop Stop

Giving myself an outtake,
Taking a moment of ease,
During the seminar break,
I relaxed in the bay breeze.
I paused from taking notes.
The humid air was sea-scented.
The docks were filled with boats.
The cloudless sky was unornamented.
Close to the water, by the harbor,
Included in the idyllic scene,
In the bougainvillea arbor
A small stray cat was seen.
The cat was too high up to touch
So it was allowed to roam free.
My mind was on writing and such
And the cat could live without me.

Beach Reach

Beach Reach
26 Dec 2015

To watch the waves breaking.
I must go to the sea;
And the rollers coming in,
It’s all calling to me.
Upon arriving at the shore,
I feel the constant breeze
And hear the continual roar
Which nature does with ease.
The gritty sand between my toes,
Feel of humidity in my clothes
And air’s salty scent in my nose,
Work together to ease my woes.
Walking across unmarked land,
As people stroll they emboss
Footstep paths in the wet sand
That wander and randomly cross.
Boundless water and sun beautify
All the lovely things I see.
The far horizon and big blue sky
Are the only limits for me.
While standing on the shore
I don’t want for anything more.

Like a cresting wave breaks,
Practical thoughts intruded
And a mood shift overtakes
Me so my amble’s concluded.
Turning around, I’m incredulous
By how far I’ve wandered to explore.
Walking to my car, there’s an impetus
To look back and watch the waves some more.

Morning Jog, Day's Prolog

Morning Jog, Day's Prolog
12 June 2014

Leap, run, run
Is my cadence
In the morning sun
Near my residence.
The sun on my skin
Feels warm and good.
A touch of silken
Breeze cools the neighborhood.
I wave at the neighbor
I see as I run past.
It adds to the caliber
Of my day's forecast.

Leather at the Pride Parade

Leather at the Pride Parade

18 July 2011

I walked with my friend over to the parade

Staging area, hugging friends along the way.

Eventually we found the leather cavalcade

As the sun burned the marine layer away.

Along with socializing, Wish supplied

Water and nourishment for our benefit.

My sunscreen got shared and applied

Guarding against sunburn’s stealthy hit.

Titleholders stood around in discourses

With Mama’s people and upstarts.

Three members dressed like horses

Complete with harnesses and carts.

There was a gentle breeze along the route

That kept us cool, natural ventilation.

The rest of the country can eat its heart out,

Jealous of San Diego’s location.

The crowds were enthusiastic, cheering

And applauding as we passed their mark,

People lined the street gawking and peering

From Normal Street to Balboa Park.
